The Journey Begins: Truth About God
There is a conviction that is deeply rooted in our ministry to babies: Parents are the first and most important teachers of the Christian faith. First Baptist Church is dedicated to partnering with families with newborns, infants, and toddlers to fully equip parents to be the primary faith foundation of their children. This foundation is rooted in four important truths: There is a God. God loves us. God loves the world. God hears our prayers. In addition to that, we are committed to partnering with families to read and teach the faith through foundational Bible stories.
Praying and Reading Scripture with Children
As we partner to share the faith with your newborn baby, it is important that you pray and read scripture with them. No, they can’t understand what you’re saying just yet, but babies understand and can sense your love and affection for them as you read them the important truths that set them free. Not only will it be a special time of spiritual formation for your child but will be foundational to your growth as a Christian parent - who build their parenting style on the fundamentals and foundational truths of the Christian faith. When your child is born (or when they begin attending our church), we will provide to them a prayer book - specifically for parents to pray with their little ones. At dedication, we’ll also provide a Baby’s First Bible to jumpstart their faith journey. If you have not received any of these gifts yet, please contact Pastor Jackson here.
The Nursery at First Baptist Church
At First Baptist Church, God’s people gather for worship every Sunday morning - and when we say God’s people, we mean from newborn to centenarian or more. That means we welcome all ages in our worship service. In fact, we intentionally don’t have “Children’s Church” during the worship service, but build our corporate worship to be enhanced for God’s children - of all ages. However, we understand that babies get to be quite a lot to handle for young parents in worship. That’s why we have a nursery - dedicated not only to the physical care of our young’uns, but also to their spiritual care. Our nursery’s schedule is formatted into the Fourfold Order of Worship, which is, we believe, the closest to the Biblical pattern of worship for God’s people. The babies gather, listen to words of scripture, respond through play, and are sent out into the world to declare the good news to all the nations. All of that to say that our nursery isn’t just a babysitting service. It is a place of worship that is intentionally focused on babies and their relationship with God.
